STEP 1:
- Check the eligibility criteria for the different categories of work permits and the IEC participating countries.

- Use the personal code to create a profile on the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) portal.
- Build your IEC Canada profile by filling in all the details carefully.
- After filling in the details and checking it carefully, submit your profile. Select the IEC pool you want to be considered for. Depending on your eligibility (and your choice), you can fill in one or more options.
- There is a waiting period after this step while your application is being reviewed. You will need an “Invitation To Apply” to proceed to the next step. The number of people applying for the IEC Canada is increasing rapidly, thereby making the ITA a critical step in the application process. The longer you are in the pool of applicants, the better the chances of acceptance.
- The candidate has ten days to accept or decline the ITA. You must start your application process within ten days to remain eligible for IEC Canada; otherwise, your application will be removed from the pool.
STEP 2:
- You have twenty days from the day you accept the ITA to file your application for an IEC Canada permit.
- Your employer must pay a compliance fee of CAD$230 through the Employer’s portal within 20 days of accepting the ITA. This is for candidates applying in the IEC Young Professional and International Coop categories.
- Gather and upload all the documents or application proof of the documents required by the IRCC, such as medical certificates, police certificates, etc.
- Pay the fees applicable and submit your application.
- IRCC will assess your application against its eligibility criteria. It may ask the candidate to provide additional documentation.
- You will receive a LOI (Letter of Introduction) at the registered email address when your application for IEC Canada is accepted.
